Film Southasia · 15th edition

Submissions closed on 15 July 2026. We previously listed 1 October as a deadline: that date is when selected filmmakers must deliver their final version, not when the call closes.

The rules that matter

  • Entry is free: the organiser states "There is no charge for entry."
  • The festival runs 26–29 November 2026 in Kathmandu.
  • Non-fiction only. The rules state that "fantasies and pure fiction are automatically disqualified".
  • Films must have been made after 1 January 2024.
  • There is no music video category.
  • Selected filmmakers were notified on 10 September 2026.

We had this wrong, and here is how

Our previous listing gave a deadline of 1 October 2026. That date is the deadline for filmmakers whose films have already been accepted to upload their final version. The actual call closed on 15 July 2026. Anyone who acted on our earlier listing would have found a closed submission page. Corrected 11 September 2026.

Checked against filmsouthasia.org on 11 September 2026. Deadlines and fees change without notice, so confirm on the organiser's own page before paying. Found something out of date? Tell us and we will re-check it.
